Namibia’s 2010 Vodacom Cup campaign got off to a losing start as they lost 45-26 to the Griffons in Windhoek after trailing 25-17 at halftime. Griffons’ right wing Eddie Fredericks scored three tries while flyhalf Tiaan van Wyk gave a great kicking display, scoring 17 points with the boot, as the visitors took control of the match from the start. Namibia however staged a fine comeback and at a stage were trailing by only two points before the Griffons pulled away for a comfortable win.
Luketz Swartbooi gave a great performance to win the Chevron 10km Road Race in Windhoek on Saturday morning in an excellent time of 31 minutes 18 seconds.
Swartbooi, who recently turned 44, showed his younger opponents a clean pair of heels as he beat Johannes Naitembu into second place in a sprint to the line. Naitembu finished in the same time as Swartbooi, while Mynardt Kauanivi came third in 31:48.
