Raymond van Schoor

Namibia’s woes continued as they crashed to an 87-run defeat to Eastern Province in their one-day CSA Challenge match in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.

EP won the toss and elected to bat, but were soon in trouble when Louis Klazinga trapped Michael Price LBW for a duck.

Michael Smith soon followed for 12, while JJ Smuts was run out by Norbert Manyande for a duck to leave EP struggling at 3/18.

Namibia however could not drive home their advantage as Kelly Smuts (46) and Umar Abrahams (30) launched a revival, before Sean Adair went on to top score with 49 runs.

The bottom clubs all collected points as a number of upsets were recorded in Namibia Premier League matches over the weekend. In the biggest upset, bottom of the log Hotspurs came from a goal down to beat Blue Waters 3-1 at the Khomasdal Stadium.

Jason Ekandjo put Blue Waters ahead shortly after halftime when he beat Hotspurs keeper Tommy Shilumbu to a high ball and ran the ball into an empty net.
