Johan Diergaardt has been appointed as the national rugby coach following the departure of John Williams. At a press conference in Windhoek on Friday, the president of the Namibia Rugby Union, Buks Bock said that Diergaardt was appointed as from 1 December to take over from outgoing coach John Williams.
Diergaardt has been assistant coach to Williams for the past two years. There was talk that the International Rugby Board would second a coach to Namibia following their qualification for the World Cup, but according to Bock, this would not be the case any more.
Black Africa striker Jerome Louis has joined SKW midfielder Milton Chapo at the top of the goalscorers chart on seven goals after completion of the 11th round of the MTC Premiership. Louis is fast approaching his form of last season when he dominated the goalscoring competition, scoring 22 goals in 22 matches.
Louis scored both goals in Black Africa’s 2-all draw against Blue Waters on November 21 and then once again found the net in their 4-2 victory against SKW on December 2 to move into joint top spot with Chapo.
