Swimmers excel at World Championships

The 13th FINA World Championships that were held in Rome, Italy from 17 July – 2 August will be recorded in the history books as championships beyond any compare. With a record number of 2 500 participating swimmers from 197 countries and 43 world records broken, the event surpassed all past standards.

Submitted by editor on Tue, 08/04/2009 - 15:49.Results went according to rankings in the quarterfinals of the ITF South and Central African U18 Junior tennis championships at the National Tennis Stadium on Tuesday, as the top seeds all advanced to the semifinals.
It is the second successive ITF African junior tennis tournament to be hosted by the Namibia Tennis Association, following last week’s opening tournament in Windhoek.
In the boys’ singles competition the top seeded Valdik Munshaw of India was pushed all the way before beating the fifth seeded Kyle Rowe of South Africa 6-4, 7-5.
