Namibia’s national women’s football team, the Brave Gladiators lost 4-3 to their South African counterparts, Banyana Banyana in Pretoria on Saturday. Namibia seemed to be heading for a draw, but with four minutes remaining Banyana substitute Mampashe Popela scored the winning goal after dribbling into the box and scoring from close range.
Banyana dominated possession and were full value for their win, although Namibia gave a battling display and made full use of the opportunities that came their way.

Civics beat Arrows

Civics kept their title hopes alive after beating Eleven Arrows 1-0 at Windhoek’s Independence Stadium on Saturday night. Floris Diergaardt scored the winning goal midway through the second half when he headed home a pinpoint cross by Sedekia Haukambe.

Chances were few and far between in a rather dull first half. Civics defender Erastus Ndjavera had a cracking 30m shot punched clear by Arrows keeper Virgil Vries, while striker Floris Diergaardt also came close with a 20m strike that flew past the upright.
