Björn Bierbrauer was the overall winner of the second leg of the Namibian Moto Cross Championships, which took place in Okahandja on Saturday. It was a highly exciting racing day with lots of spectators, while the participation of South African Hennie Hanekom from Upington enhanced the MX1/MX2 Class. In the late 1990’s he was a regular competitor in Namibian MX-sport.
Black Africa striker Jerome Louis has opened up a five goal lead at the top of the MTC NPL Goalscorers chart following completion of Round 14 of the NPL over the weekend. Louis was once again in terrific form over the weekend, scoring all three goals in Black Africa’s 3-0 victory against Chief Santos on Saturday, to take his tally for the season to 16 goals in only 14 matches.
Cymot SKW midfielder Marco van Wyk remains second on 11 goals after scoring SKW’s winner in their 1-0 victory against Ramblers on Thursday, March 26.
Defending champions Unam were pushed all the way before beating DTS 4-3 in their Telecom National Indoor Hockey Men’s Premier League match on Saturday night. The victory kept Unam’s unbeaten run intact this season and saw them remaining at the top of the log, but DTS’ fine performance will give them a lot of hope for the rest of the season.
DTS in fact led 2-1 at halftime, going up 3-1 shortly after the restart, but Unam’s class and experience shone through as they posted a great come-from-behind victory.
