Weekend Sport Preview

In soccer, the first round proper of the Cell One MTC Cup takes place with 32 teams set to battle it out in matches scheduled for Windhoek, Otjiwarongo and Keetmanshoop.
A lot will be at stake as the winners of the competition will receive N$500 000, while the runners up will receive N$25 000 and the losing semifinalists N$100 000 each.

Submitted by editor on Thu, 03/12/2009 - 20:05.Zimbabwe A got their Namibian tour off to a great start as they comfortably beat a Namibian Invitation team by nine wickets at the Wanderers field on Thursday. After dismissing Namibia for only 179, Zimbabwe reached 183/1 off only 25 overs, with Timycen Maruma scoring a fine century.
After losing Bothwell Chapungu, caught behind off Louis Klazinga for 25, Maruma and Eric Chauluka took Zimbabwe to the winning target with an unbroken partnership of 138 runs.
Maruma reached his century off only 68 balls (12x4, 3x6), while Chauluka was not out on 51 off 49 balls.
