Daniela Lindemeier and Kari van der Vaart, both of Dolphins Swimming Club, produced the best performances at Gala 7 and 8 at the Windhoek Municipal Pool over the weekend.
The 17-year-old Lindemeier produced the best overall performance at the galas, obtaining 645 FINA points for winning the Women’s 17-18 year 100m breaststroke in 1:16,82. Her winning time, however, was well outside her national age group record of 1:13,82.
Namibia’s Special Olympics team leaves for Cape Town on Tuesday to participate in the Football for Hope Centre Kick Off on December 5 and 6. The Kick Off will celebrate the inauguration of the first Football for Hope Centre, constructed in the community of Khayelitsha, and will take place after the final draw for the 2010 FIFA World Cup on December 4.
A total of 20 Football for Hope centres are being constructed throughout Africa, and will include one in Katutura outside Windhoek, that will be inaugurated in 2010.
