Frans Hosea and Helalia Johannes were the overall winners of the third leg of the Old Mutual Victory Races in Windhoek on Saturday, but the race was overshadowed by a motorcar accident involving Hosea, Johannes Naitembu and Namibian Olympian boxer Japhet Uutoni.

With about 6km remaining, Hosea and Naitembu were running neck-and-neck in the front when Uutoni, who was Naitembu’s water assistant, tried to overtake the two from behind.
He however immediately swerved back in to avoid an oncoming car and hit both the athletes from the back.
