During an international ceremony, the Federation of International Gymnastics honoured the president of the Namibia Gymnastics Federation, Valereis Geldenhuys, for eight years of dedicated service to gymnastics.

Geldenhuys is presently at the coast to support the NGF during the hosting of the Zone 6 competition and the African Championships. Both these competitions will be held in the Indoor Sport Complex, Jan Wilken Stadion, Walvis Bay.

Telecom Namibia on Wednesday announced a sponsorship of N$70 000 for the Telecom Boxing Tournament to be held at the Windhoek Country Club on December 11.

Telecom’s Oiva Angula said the sponsorship formed part of their agreement with the Nestor Tobias Boxing & Fitness Academy and that part of the funds will be used to support the Academy.

“This is our last sponsorship for 2008. We are very proud of the work the academy is doing to promote boxing and to ensure that our youngsters are optimally prepared when they fight against international boxers,” he said.
