Sport Awards nominees
Submitted by admin on Sun, 10/19/2008 - 21:34.The finalists for the 2008 Namibia Sport Commission Sport Awards were announced in Windhoek on Friday.
The finalists were selected by an independent panel consisting of former sprinter and IOC member Frank Fredericks, Namibia Olympic Committee member Ailly Hangula Paulino and the editor of Namibia Sport magazine and website, Helge Schutz.
The winners will be announced at the NSC Sport Awards function on October 31.
The finalists are as follows:
Sportsman of the Year
1 Jafet Uutoni - boxing
2 Jamu Ngatjizeko – soccer
3 Frans Saubek – endurance riding

WP beat Namibia in SAA Cup
Submitted by admin on Sun, 10/19/2008 - 16:35.Western Province turned the tables on Namibia with a thorough seven-wicket victory in their SAA Cup limited overs match yesterday.
Namibia were dismissed for a paltry 145 runs after only 29 of their allotted 50 overs.
Sarel Burger was the only Namibian batsman to show some resistance as he top scored with 63 runs off 73 balls. He scored nine fours before being trapped LBW by Shadley van Wyk.
