Ireland’s cricket captain William Porterfield said that the variation in their team could be the key to defeating Namibia, according to an International Cricket Council (ICC) press release.

Speaking ahead of Friday’s crucial ICC Intercontinental Cup match in Windhoek, Porterfield said Namibia would be a tough nut to crack but if his players performed to their potential he was confident of victory.

“We have pretty much a full-strength squad, which is a great boost for us,” said the 24-year-old from Donemana in Ireland’s north-west.

Namibia’s Pan African welterweight champion Ali Nuumbembe will fight Daniel Kaefer of Germany in the main bout of a boxing bonanza to be held at the Windhoek Country Club on October 17.
Boxing promoter Nestor Tobias said that Kaefer was a good fighter and that the winner could receive a top ten ranking.
“Ali’s target is to fight for the world title, but we have to take it step by step and will have to go through the process. Kaefer is a rated fighter and the winner will definitely improve their rating,” he said.
