Namibiaâ??s Agnes Samaria came eighth in the womenâ??s 1 500m final at the World Athletics Championships in Osaka, Japan on Sunday, September 2.

Although Samaria did not finish amongst the medals, she had the satisfaction of setting a new Namibian record of 4:07,61. This broke her old mark of 4:08,06 which she also set in Osaka in April, 2007.

Zimbabwe beat Namibia 2-0 to win the SADC Hockey Champions Tournament in Windhoek on Sunday, September 2.
It was the first time that Zimbabwe had participated in the three-nation tournament, that also saw Botswana in action, but their superior technical skills enabled them to win the trophy at their first attempt.
