Naidjala in classy win
Submitted by editor on Sat, 07/14/2007 - 22:23.Immanuel Naidjala gave a great all-round display to convincingly beat Antebicha Duguma of Ethiopia 29-12 on points in a bantamweight bout at the All Africa Games on July 14.
Moving well, Naidjala started off with some quick jabs and hooks, but the Ethiopian also landed some solid blows towards the end of the first round, which Naidjala shaded.
Disaster strikes for Namibian cyclists
Submitted by editor on Sat, 07/14/2007 - 22:16.It was a disastrous day for Namibia at the cycling road race on Saturday, July 14, as only Ananias Ananias managed to complete the race, way down the field.
Namibiaâ??s main hope for a medal, Erik Hoffmann crashed out of the race on the fifth of nine laps, while Jacques Celliers, Ermin van Wyk, Lotto Petrus and Tjipe Murangi all fell out along the way.
Jacob is well beaten
Submitted by editor on Sat, 07/14/2007 - 22:11.Trevor Jacob was well beaten by Kabore Sibri Jules of Burkina Faso, losing his light heavyweight bout 17-3 on points at the All Africa Games on July13.
Jacobs moved too slowly and couldnâ??t connect with his punches, while Jules raked in the points with his long jab.
Indongo in explosive form
Submitted by editor on Sat, 07/14/2007 - 21:47.Namibian lightweight boxer Julius Indongo was in explosive form against Gaasite Gomdtsang of Botswana on July 13, winning the fight on a third round technical knock out.
He attacked from the start and raked in the points with fast combinations to take a 12-3 lead by the end of the first round.
