Unam thrash Windhoek Old Boys

Unam started the defence of their field hockey menâ??s Premier League title in style by thrashing Windhoek Old Boys 9-1 on July 8, after leading 4-1 at halftime.
Unamâ??s previous two matches didnâ??t take place for various reasons. On June 24 their opponents Ramblers withdrew, after protesting about the presence of star player Siabonga Martins in Unamâ??s team. Martins picked up a red card in Unamâ??s final indoor hockey match against Ramblers for a foul on Coenie Fourie and was consequently suspended. Unam however won an appeal against the decision, which cleared Martins to play. Ramblers apparently were not aware about Unamâ??s successful appeal and their coach Marc Nel withdrew his players from the field.
