The Botswana men's soccer team at the Zone VI Youth Games secured the gold medal after defeating a gutsy South Africa 2-1 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek, Namibia on July 5. The tie required extra-time for the medals to be decided.

Zambia win bronze in soccer

The Zambian men's soccer team secured third place and the bronze medal at the Zone VI Youth Games soccer tournament, after defeating hosts Namibia 2-1 in the third place play-off game at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek on July 5.

South Africa win gold in athletics

South Africa won the overall gold medal on completion of the athletics competition at the SADC Zone 6 Youth Games on July 5.
Zimbabwe won the overall silver medal and Zambia the overall bronze medal.

Namibia win boxing gold after appeal

Namibia won the overall gold medal in the boxing tournament at the SADC Zone 6 Youth Games after lodging a successful appeal.
The organisers had first stated that South Africa had won the overall gold since they had a slightly better medal standing.

Angola win menâ??s basketball gold

Angola and Mozambique won gold medals in the men and womenâ??s basketball competitions at the SADC Youth Games on July 4.
Angolaâ??s menâ??s team maintained their unbeaten record at the tournament to beat Mozambique 77-63 in their final match on July 4.

The Botswana men's football team advanced to the finals of the football tournament at the Zone VI Youth Games after dispatching Namibia 3-0 today at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek.
Although the Namibians started strongly and dominated possession and territory throughout, it was the Batswana who made good use of their limited opportunities in the Namibian box.

The South African men's football team at the Zone VI Youth Games booked their place in the final of the football tournament after a tough game on July 4 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium against the talented Zambian side. The final score-line was 3-2.

South Africa were leading with a total of 28 medals, made up of 14 gold, 10 silver and 4 bronze medals.

The pressure was on Botswana from the start as South Africa won the opening two singles matches, and although Botswanaâ??s number one male Bokong Setshogo managed to win his singles match, South Africa held on for a comfortable win in the end.
