Bank Windhoek on September 22 gave notice that it would cancel its sponsorship agreement with Athletics Namibia (AN) within six months.
The sponsorship agreement, the largest in the history of Namibia Athletics, was signed in September 2003 and amounted to N$2 million over five years. Following the sponsorship, the profile of athletics was lifted considerably with several Bank Windhoek Grand Prix meetings being held which attracted top athletes from countries like South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
