Brown Pumpkins, Theo Katjimune set the pace

More than 100 young school girls turned out for Gals & Goals soccer matches at the Eldorado Field in Khomasdal on July 31, with five matches taking place in the Under 13 league and one in the Under 15 league.

Theo Katjimune Primary School and Brown Pumpkins both recorded big victories against Pioniers Park in the Galz and Goals Under 13 league.

Brown Pumpkins beat Pioniers Park 6-0 while Theo Katjimune beat them by the same score.

Theo Katjimune also beat the Spanish Pumpkins 3-0 but were held to a 1-1 draw by Eros Primary.

Late Ngcobo goal gives Chiefs victory

A goal by Sthembiso Ngcobo three minutes into injury time gave Kaizer Chiefs a 2-1 victory against Eleven Arrows on Saturday evening. Josta Dladla had given Chiefs an early lead in the first half, but Romanus Shilongo equalised shortly after the break.

The match seemed to be heading for a penalty shootout when Chiefs won a corner and Kaizer Motaung junior chipped the ball to the far post where Ngcobo rose unopposed to head the ball into the net.

Log leaders Reho Falcon will play at home against bottom placed Unam in an MTC Rugby Premier League Round 11 match on Saturday.

Falcons maintained their lead at the top of the log after they narrowly beat Mariental 30-29 in a close encounter in Mariental last weekend. This result brought their total points to 38 with seven wins to their name and only four losses.

Brave Warriors match against Israel cancelled

The Brave Warriors match against Israel that had been scheduled for August 11 has been called off due to a problem with the processing of visas in Israel according to Namibia Football Association (NFA) Secretary General Barry Rukoro.

It had earlier been reported in a weekly newspaper that the Brave Warriors would play Israel as part of their preparations for the AFCON qualifier match against Gambia on September 4.

Namibian soccer fans will be in for a treat when Eleven Arrows take on Kaizer Chiefs at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Although the match has been billed as a pre-season international friendly, there will be no love lost on the field of play as both teams are expected to field their strongest sides in preparation for the upcoming season.

At the time of writing, Chiefs had not yet confirmed their lineup but according to Arrows coach, Congo Hindjou, their top players will be coming.
