SA Presidents team ready for Namibia

The South African Presidents team arrived in Windhoek on Thursday and are highly motivated for Saturday’s match against the Welwitschias.
The Presidents team was recently selected to compete in next month’s IRB Tbilisi Cup in Georgia and they will use the Namibian encounter as a warmup match for that tournament.
At a press conference in Windhoek on Friday, their coach Jimmy Stonehouse said they were thankful for the opportunity to play against Namibia.
“We will compete in the Tblisi Cup in Georgia so we need some game time and its nice to come to Namibia,” he said.
R1 million prize money for Cosafa Cup

The prize-money for the COSAFA Cup Zambia 2013 has been set with teams competing for a share of over R1-million.
The regional championship makes a return after a three year absence and will be played from July 6-20 in three venues across Zambia.
Twelve of the 14 COSAFA member countries will be present, along with guest nations Kenya and Equatorial Guinea.
The winning country will go home with R500 000, while the runners up in the July 20 Final will receive R250 000. The team that collects the bronze medal will earn R150 000.
MB action at the coast

Mountain Bike action goes to the coast this weekend as the third race in the KIA Cross Country series takes place on Saturday while the second race in the marathon series takes place on Sunday.
Saturday’s Cross Country event will start and finish at the Rooibank Reservoir just outside Walvis Bay. Club members can participate for free, while non-members have to pay N$50.
Riders will be divided into two groups according to their category. Registration closes half an hour before the start of each race.
Junior cricketers off to Uganda

Namibia’s national Under 19 cricket team left for Uganda on Thursday to compete in the African qualifiers for next year’s Junior World Cup.
Only the winning team will qualify for the 2014 Junior World Cup in Dubai, but at a capping ceremony on Wednesday night the team was in high spirits and determined to qualify.
Namibia qualified for last year’s Junior World Cup in Australia and with five members of the 14-man squad remaining from that team, their chances are good of qualifying for the second successive time.
Tough debut awaits Palmgren

A new era for the Brave Warriors starts on Saturday when Roger Palmgren takes over the coach’s hot seat for the first time in a friendly match against Zambia at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
It will be a tough opening encounter for Palmgren against Zambia’s Chipolopolo who have developed into one of Africa’s top ranked sides over the past few years.
With Frenchman Herve Renard at the helm, Zambia won the African Cup of Nations for the first time in their history last year, while they are currently ranked seventh on the continent and 46th in the world.
