Final NPL matches on May 26
Submitted by editor on Wed, 05/22/2013 - 18:38.The final round of the Namibia Premier League will take place on Sunday, May 26 after a meeting held by the NPL board on Tuesday night.
According to a source the decision was taken due to financial considerations since the main sponsor of the Namibia Premier League, MTC will only pay the teams till the end of May.
The NPL was requested by the Namibian government to postpone their matches since the African Union 50th anniversary celebrations are taking place at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Saturday May 25.
FNB Classic Clashes launched
Submitted by editor on Wed, 05/22/2013 - 15:47.FNB Namibia launched the sixth FNB Classic Clashes at St. Paul’s College in Windhoek on Wednesday.
FNB Namibia has been the title sponsor since the introduction of the event in 2008 and the participating schools have grown from the initial 14 to 42 with even more schools wishing to participate in 2013.

NDF takes the lead
Submitted by editor on Wed, 05/22/2013 - 11:40.The NDF women’s team won all its matches at last weekend’s games of the Bank Windhoek National Volleyball Women’s League at the DTS Hall in Windhoek.
The soldiers justified their position as the favourites to win the league by beating SKW 3:1 and Revivals VC (RVC) 3:0.
NDF coach, Joel Matheus sounded confident of winning the league.
Namibia seventh at Davis Cup
Submitted by editor on Wed, 05/22/2013 - 07:31.Namibia’s national men’s tennis team recently competed at the Davis Cup Africa Group III tournament in Egypt where they came seventh overall out of 13 competing nations.
The tournament took place at the Smash Tennis Academy in Cairo where the Namibian team of Tuki Jacobs, Henco Serdyn, Deon van Dyk and Michau Basson competed in Pool C against Madagascar and Rwanda.
Namibia comfortably won their opening match 3-0 against Rwanda on May 15.
Henco Serdyn beat Dieu Donne Habiyambere 6-3, 6-3, while Tuki Jacobs beat Jean Claude Gasigwa 6-1, 6-3.
Namibia 11th in Europe/Africa Group III
Submitted by editor on Wed, 05/22/2013 - 07:28.Namibia’s women’s tennis team came joint 11th out of 13 nations in the Europe / Africa Group III category of the Federations Cup.
The competition took place in Chisinau, Moldova from May 6 to 11.
The Namibian team of Riekie Honiball and Liniques Theron competed in Pool B where they lost both their matches 3-0 against Morocco and Denmark.
Namibia were comprehensively beaten by Denmark on May 8, with Maria Jespersen beating Theron 6-4, 6-2, while Mai Grage beat Honiball 6-0, 6-0.
Honiball and Theron lost their doubles match 6-0, 6-0 against Grage and Malou Edjesgaard.
