Namibia beat Botswana in basketball

Namibia were in impressive form as they beat Botswana 71-37 in a womenâ??s netball encounter at the SADC Youth Games on June 27.
With Kornelia Nainda in great form in both attack and defence, Namibia took a 14-4 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Midway through the second quarter Nainda was fouled and had to leave the court due to an injury to her ribs, but Botswana could not capitalise on her absence. Namibia kept on raking in the points, with Maria Sibolile and Lahia Shangala being successful with several free throws. At halftime Namibia had taken a 30-6 lead and with Nainda back on the court after the break, they continued to extend their lead. By the end of the third quarter Namibiaâ??s lead had grown to 67-16, and although Botswana rallied strongly in the final quarter, Namibia emerged comfortable winners. Nainda was their star player, scoring more than 40 points.
Mozambiqueâ??s womenâ??s team, who won the gold medal at the 2004 Youth Games in Mozambique, started the defence of their title in great form, overwhelming Zimbabwe 119-29.
